Hello, Neighbors!
Your Neighborhood Watch is celebrating its birthday with over 60 Block Captains representing our 550+ homes here in The Woodlands!
The Woodlands Neighborhood Watch started with a handful of neighbors concerned over an address that had become a regular stop for the Seminole County Sheriffs. With the cooperation of the Civic Association, we were able to purchase signage to post throughout our community. This small group banded together to organize a network of Block Captains and Coordinators. Monthly updates are sent out to each Block Captain who, in turn, forward this information to their neighbors. When aberrant activity occurs, telephones light up with “neighbors talking to neighbors” and soon an update is sent to Block Captains who spread this information to our neighbors.
Our Neighborhood Watch activity has gained the reputation with the Seminole County Sheriffs Office as being the Poster Child for neighborhood watch programs. We are active. We are visible. We communicate. We work. The end result, according to the Sheriffs Office, crime statistics in The Woodlands are down. Good work, neighbors!
